Social media has its place in the marketing and communications mix – no question. But who is actively participating and influencing social media conversations and how much impact social media will provide for organizations is a well discussed topic.
An estimated 93% of marketers use social media to market their businesses, according to a new survey from SocialMedia Examiner. (see the full online article here, http://tiny.cc/js4tb ). Interestingly, the younger the marketing professional, the more time they spent on social media. That is consistent with other research on interactive media. Boomers just do not spend as much time online as Millennials (GenY).
Virtually all marketers in this survey responded that social media helped to increase their organization’s exposure. More than half indicated that social media generated qualified leads while less than half cited increased sales as a result.
All figures worth watching as social media matures.
